Social Worker Manager (Pathways to Settlement Manager)

Permanent Full-Time (37.5 hours per week)

About the role – Kōrero mō te tūranga

Lead our Pathways to Settlement programme, making a lasting impact in the lives of former refugees. You’ll manage a small dedicated team and play a key role in supporting refugee resettlement in our community.

As a Senior Social Worker, you’ll ensure safe practices, oversee client support, and develop social and settlement services in Blenheim. Additionally, you'll build strong networks with community providers and streamline referrals to mainstream services.

Based in the heart of sunny Marlborough, Blenheim is the home of incredible food and culture. Nestled in between beautiful mountains, Blenheim truly is a suntrap and with over 2,400 hours of sunshine each year, you’ll be well and truly motivated to get out and explore this popular, community-focused city.

Our successful candidate will be available to start at a mutually agreed time in early 2025.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and support a small team to provide a quality strengths-based settlement service.
  • Coordinate intake and settlement activities, liaising with stakeholders, including government and non-government agencies and various community groups
  • Build and maintain networks with key service providers and refugee background groups in the community sector
  • Provide tailored social work support, including managing casework and crisis support, and conducting assessments and client settlement plans.
  • Support and communicate with volunteers and assist with settlement tasks as needed.

To be successful you will:

  • Hold a tertiary qualification in social work with relevant experience in the field;
  • Be fully registered with the New Zealand Social Worker Registration Board;
  • Showcase expertise in strengths-based social work and intercultural awareness;
  • Have good organisational skills and leadership experience within a multidisciplinary team;
  • Have refugee lived experience or a deep understanding of the refugee resettlement process.
