As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Equities Technology Team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. Drive significant business impact through your capabilities and contributions and apply deep technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to tackle a diverse array of challenges that span multiple technologies and applications.

Job responsibilities

• Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
• Build and operate big data infrastructure, including numerous scalable data pipelines, ensuring optimal performance, reliability and security.
• Develop resilient Java-based microservices, AWS Lambda functions, and Apache Spark applications for real-time and batch processing.
• Perform backtesting and optimize cloud-based distributed computing for high performance and resource efficiency.
• Manage Gemfire's distributed in-memory caching system for fast, reliable data access.
• Use Terraform to efficiently build and manage cloud infrastructure.
• Continuously improve software development processes and tools to ensure efficient and effective software development
• Define and implement best practices for data engineering, including coding standards, data modeling
• Provide technical mentorship to team members helping them grow their skills and advance their careers

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related fields
• Minimum 5 years of software engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in Java, Python and other programming languages used in Data Engineering
• Strong knowledge in SQL, RDMBS and No SQL databases.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
• Knowledge of real time message streaming platform like Kafka or AMPS
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and Operational stakeholders globally.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Experience in Apache Spark or similar distributed computing platform that processes large datasets.
• Experience in Infrastructure as Code tool like Terraform.
• Experience In-Memory databases like Gemfire or Oracle Coherence.
