Turning Sun Solar Project: Estevan, Saskatchewan

Project Information

· Shift Cycle - 14 on, 7 off

· Daily Hours: 7:00am to 5:00pm.

Overtime may be required according to business needs. You will be eligible for overtime in accordance with Provincial Legislation.

Available Positions and Starting Wages

· General Labour - 31.18/hr

· Equipment Operators - 36.25/hr (Telehandler, Tractor, Loader, Other Heavy Equipment)

Job Responsibilities

A construction labourer or construction worker does physical labor on construction sites, with a primary focus on the installation of structural solar material including foundations, solar racking, and PV modules. Additionally, they may prepare sites by cleaning them, loading or unloading materials, and removing hazards.

Duties:

  • Loading and unloading construction materials, & moving them to work areas
  • Installing and removing forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks and barricades, securements, fencing, and other related material at construction sites
  • Assisting heavy equipment operators to secure attachments to equipment
  • Signalling heavy equipment operators to guide them in moving equipment
  • The installation, alignment, fastening and commissioning of materials and performing related activities
  • Levelling earth to grade specifications and trench digging or backfilling
  • Removing rubbish, recycle and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, and other equipment
  • Operating manual and powered hand tools
  • Tending or feeding equipment used in construction
  • Cleaning up chemical spills or other contaminants
  • Oiling and greasing equipment
  • Directing traffic at or near construction sites
  • Assisting electrical or supervisor colleagues in their tasks where required

Skills and Qualifications

  • Equipment Operator Certifications (for operators)
  • Class 5 driver’s licence
  • Ability to pass a fitness-to-work test
  • Some knowledge or capacity to learn electrical construction & safety concerns
  • A quality mindset and attention to detail are important
  • Reliable transportation to site
  • Previous solar installation

Required PPE

  • Steel toe boots
  • Work grade clothing with long sleeve shirt

Provided PPE

  • Type 2 Class E Hard hat
  • High visibility gear such as a safety vest or stripes
  • Safety glasses
  • Work gloves

Pay: $31.18-$36.25 per hour
