Are you an experienced and talented Solution Architect looking for an exciting opportunity to work on a strategically significant project? BNZ is seeking a skilled professional to join our Solution Architecture Practice and contribute to the success of the Core Ledger Replacement (CLR) project, one of our top Technology priorities.

Our Solution Architecture Practice is dedicated to designing and implementing innovative solutions that drive enterprise value. Our team operates across all facets of BNZ’s technology infrastructure, ensuring that our solutions are scalable, secure, and tailored to meet specific requirements. From integrating cutting-edge innovations to managing complex systems, we strive to balance business needs with technical excellence, connecting all the necessary elements seamlessly.

This is a Wellington based hybrid role with Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in the office and the other days you can work flexibly.

We sat down with the People Leader (who you would report to) and they told us the following about the role:

What are 5 day to day tasks the person in this role will complete?

1. Solution Design & Documentation – Develop and maintain high-level solution designs, data models, and architecture patterns that support financial and regulatory reporting.

2. Stakeholder Collaboration & Advisory – Engage with finance, risk, compliance, and technology teams to align solution designs with business and regulatory needs.

3. Data Integration & Interface Design – Define data integration strategies for moving financial data between core systems, reporting platforms, and regulatory bodies.

4. Technical Oversight & Governance – Review solution designs to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards, security policies, and compliance requirements.

5. Supporting Delivery Teams – Work closely with engineers, analysts, and delivery teams, ensuring solutions are implemented according to design and resolving architectural challenges as they arise.

What projects / work will the candidate be working on now and into the next year?

The candidate will be primarily focused on the CLR project, which includes multiple workstreams such as FRR, Term Deposits, and Term Lending.

The most challenging aspect of the CLR opportunity for a new Solution Architect will be navigating the complex dependencies and ensuring seamless integration of multiple workstreams, all while delivering innovative solutions that align with BNZ's strategic goals.

What technical skills are REQUIRED for this role?

The role requires strong technical skills in solution architecture, including experience with enterprise-level projects, knowledge of cutting-edge technologies, and proficiency in designing and implementing complex solutions. Additionally, you will need a strong foundation in banking data architecture, system integration, and regulatory compliance.
