We are seeking a hands-on Solution Architect with deep expertise in chassis and steering systems and extensive HIL testing & automation experience—particularly with dSPACE HIL and other ecosystems (e.g., IPG CarMaker, Vector). The ideal candidate combines excellent vehicle-level understanding (steering, suspension, vehicle dynamics, braking) with strong customer-facing skills, the ability to craft technical proposals & estimations, and solid knowledge of ASPICE and V-Model development lifecycles. You will lead solution definition and delivery across ADAS and Chassis domains, drive HIL strategy & automation, and guide teams and stakeholders through architectures that scale from prototype to series production, including commercial vehicle platforms. A curiosity for agentic AI and rapid adoption of new technologies is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Solution Architecture & Systems Engineering
- Own end-to-end architecture for chassis/steering/vehicle dynamics and ADAS feature chains (sensors ECUs actuators vehicle).
- Define system, functional, and safety concepts; trace requirements through the ASPICE V-cycle.
- Align interfaces, data models, and integration plans across suppliers (OEM/Tier-1) and internal teams.
- HIL Strategy, Automation & Validation
- Architect and oversee HIL test benches using dSPACE (ScaleXIO/VEOS/ControlDesk/ConfigurationDesk), integrate IPG CarMaker and Vector toolchains.
- Develop automated regression suites (e.g., Python, CAPL, ECU Test), test oracles, and KPI dashboards.
- Drive model-in-the-loop (MiL), software-in-the-loop (SiL), HIL, and vehicle-level validation strategies.
- Technical Leadership & Delivery
- Decompose scope, size efforts, and build estimations, staffing plans, and schedules.
- Lead technical reviews, FMEAs, design audits, and sign-offs; ensure ASPICE process adherence.
- Guide cross-functional teams (controls, calibration, integration, diagnostics, cyber-security).
- Customer Engagement & Proposals
- Front-end with OEM and Tier-1 stakeholders for discovery, scoping, and technical proposals.
- Define solution options, assumptions, SLAs, acceptance criteria, and risk mitigations.
- Present architectures, demo HIL/ADAS capabilities, and handle change/issue management.
- Innovation & Agentic AI
- Evaluate and apply agentic AI workflows (e.g., autonomous test-agent pipelines, log analysis, intelligent test selection, anomaly detection) into
- Champion rapid adoption of new methods/tools for commercial vehicles and passenger cars.
- Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Support ISO 26262-aligned feature development (in collaboration with safety engineers).
- Ensure traceability, coverage metrics, defect triage, and release readiness evidence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Automotive/Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics/Controls/Computer Engineering (or related).
- 8–14 years of relevant experience in automotive chassis/steering/vehicle dynamics/braking and HIL validation.
- Demonstrated experience working with European OEMs/Tier-1s and delivering production-grade solutions.
- Work authorization in the EU. Language: Fluent English; German proficiency is a strong plus.
- -
Required Skills & Expertise:
- Chassis, Steering & Vehicle
- Strong fundamentals in steering (EPS/EHPS/RWS), suspension kinematics, vehicle dynamics, and braking (ABS/ESC).
- Hands-on calibration and integration exposure; understanding of CAN/LIN/FlexRay/Ethernet diagnostics (UDS, DoIP).
- HIL, Tools & Automation
- Expert with dSPACE HIL ecosystems (e.g., ScaleXIO, MicroAutoBox/Autobox, ControlDesk, ConfigurationDesk, VEOS).
- Experience integrating IPG CarMaker for scenario/modeling and Vector toolchains (CANoe/CANape/CAPL).
- Scripting/automation: Python, CAPL, exposure to ECU-TEST, Jenkins/CI, and data analysis/visualization.
- Model development & plant/vehicle models (MATLAB/Simulink; Simscape/CarMaker/ModelDesk preferred).
- Process, Quality & Safety
- Strong working knowledge of ASPICE (ENG/VAL/MAN processes) and V-Model development.
- Familiarity with ISO 26262 concepts (ASILs, safety mechanisms, work products) and requirements traceability (e.g., Polarion/DOORS).
- ADAS & Systems Integration
- Understanding of ADAS perception/planning/control pipelines and their interaction with chassis actuators.
- Experience with SIL/MIL/HIL integration across ADAS & Chassis ECUs.
- Customer & Business
- Proven ability to write technical proposals, estimate efforts, define BoMs and HIL architecture, and present convincingly to technical and executive stakeholders.
- Excellent presentation, documentation, and stakeholder management skills; experience leading technical workshops.
- Innovation & AI
- Demonstrated interest or exposure to agentic AI methodologies for test automation, analytics, and decision support.
- Fast learner, adaptable to new tools/technologies; strong fit for commercial vehicle programs and mixed fleets.
