About the Team & Department
Digital Innovation is at the forefront of shaping the future of Customer Services Digital Solutions. Our mission is to lead the end-to-end co-creation of groundbreaking digital solutions, addressing the primary needs of the Air Transport System from idea to MVP maturity. We achieve this through an Open Innovation and Co-Creation process, leveraging Airbus's unique assets, hands-on experience, and proven methodologies like Design Thinking, Lean UX, Lean Start-up, and (Scaled) Agile. We support the transformation of different Airbus customer services business lines by supporting them through specific missions.
You will be an integral part of the Innovation for Digital Solutions team, a dynamic group of Strategic Designers, Value Architects, and Solution Innovators organized into Digital Growth Squads. Our core activity revolves around identifying new solutions to help our customers solve complex problems and unlock significant business value by designing desirable, viable, and feasible services. Co-creation, Design Thinking, and Lean UX are embedded in our daily philosophy and ways of working.
Role Purpose
As a Solution Innovator, you will drive the development of innovative digital solutions, bridging customer needs, business value, and technical feasibility. This pivotal role focuses on leveraging cutting-edge digital technologies, including Artificial Intelligence and advanced software development, to define and operationalize disruptive new services that meet critical demands within the aerospace context.
Key Responsibilities
AI-Driven Prototyping & Development:
Lead the conceptualization, design, and development of technical prototypes, with a strong focus on Artificial Intelligence, particularly Generative AI, to de-risk technology bricks and validate solution feasibility.
Actively identify, learn, and apply new and emerging AI technologies (e.g., Machine Learning, Multi-agent systems) to address customer needs and drive innovation.
Drive the vision and foster a network around the strategic usage of Generative AI for Customer Services.
Aerospace Business Context Integration:
Apply a deep understanding of the aerospace business context, including Aircraft Maintenance domains, Fleet Performance, and Aircraft Configuration and Data, to identify and define high-impact digital solutions.
Translate complex operational challenges within the air transport industry into innovative technical solutions that enhance predictability and resilience of airline operations.
Support squads in establishing innovation roadmaps where AI is a key enabler for in-service maintenance and operations, including Prognostic Health Monitoring.
Feasibility Assessment & Management:
Rigorously assess the feasibility of proposed solutions across operational, technical, schedule, economic, legal, and sustainability axes.
Work closely with Strategic Design and Early Adopters to understand user personas, pain points, and journeys, and gather solution feedback through various testing methods.
Collaborate with Value Architects to assess the potential value a solution could generate for customers and Airbus.
Define the key features of the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) in collaboration with Product Owners, developing capability and feature lists and user stories.
Strategic & Collaborative Innovation:
Actively participate in Ideation Sessions, Brainstorms, Creative Thinking workshops, and Design Sprints to qualify and select high-potential ideas aligned with strategic intent.
Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including Strategic Designers, Value Architects, Digital Architects, Business & Functional Architects, and ad-hoc experts to scope, design, and deliver innovative solutions.
Perform continuous technology watch and scouting to identify emerging technologies and new trends relevant to digital services in the aerospace industry.
Contribute to the development of business cases and operating plans, including cost structure evaluations and defining global roadmaps and budgets for future technical solutions.
Project & Stakeholder Management:
Drive the multidisciplinary team through lean, agile-based incubation and early adoption processes (Build, Learn, Adapt).
Prepare and conduct handovers to industrialization teams, ensuring comprehensive support and technical documentation (user guides, training material, operations dossiers).
Work closely with data governance to define and maintain principles of data governance (e.g., GDPR, Export Control) and actively identify measures to protect intellectual property.
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Expertise:
Proven hands-on skills in quickly prototyping and developing software solutions, with a strong emphasis on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, ideally including Generative AI.
Strong understanding of mobile, cloud, and web technologies.
Experience with functional architecture and modeling languages.
Ability to conceptualize and implement technical & functional integration between complementary software products.
Aerospace Domain Knowledge:
Demonstrated understanding of the Air Transport industry and specific knowledge of Aircraft Maintenance domains, Fleet Performance, and Aircraft Configuration and Data.
Ability to identify the application of technology to complex business problems within the aerospace sector.
Innovation & Strategic Thinking:
An entrepreneurial drive to define and develop new solutions, coupled with an ability to think strategically and creatively.
Working knowledge of agile development methodologies (Lean Start-up, Scrum, Kanban).
Customer-minded, challenging, curious, and open-minded approach to problem-solving.
Interpersonal & Communication Skills:
Superior interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence through persuasive written and verbal communication.
Excellent leadership skills with experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Ability to set and manage expectations at the senior leadership level.
Organizational & Problem-Solving:
Capacity for self-motivation, independent initiative, and creative problem-solving.
Diligent attention to detail and strong technical intuition.
Ability to manage time and schedules to meet aggressive deadlines.
Autonomous and self-organized with strong problem-solving capabilities.
Data & IP Management:
Ability to understand and manage data sensitivity and classification such as GDPR and export compliance.
Qualifications
A Master's degree from an accredited educational institution in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Data Science, or a related field) or equivalent working experience as a Functional/Technical Architect or Senior Developer on cutting-edge solutions.
