About the Sous Chef Role
Reporting to the Head Chef, you will co-lead the kitchen at Pastuso — a fast-paced, premium CBD restaurant known for bold flavours and high standards. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on driving service, developing your team and maintaining consistency across all sections. Ideal for a chef ready to step up or further develop in a venue that values strong leadership and long-term growth.
As a Sous Chef at Pastuso, your duties will involve:
- Leading daily kitchen operations and ensuring consistent, high-quality service
- Supporting menu execution, cost control and maintaining food quality standards
- Recruiting, onboarding and developing the kitchen team
- Managing rostering to maintain a structured and efficient team
- Driving team performance through coaching, training and clear expectations
- Maintaining food safety, cleanliness and operational standards at all times
- Proven Sous Chef or Jnr Sous Chef experience in a fast-paced, premium restaurant
- Strong leadership skills — demonstrated ability to build, coach and develop teams
- Experience delivering high-volume service while maintaining quality & consistency
- Strong understanding of food cost control and kitchen operations
- Full, unrestricted working rights in Australia
