Special Education Teacher (Ages 12–15)

Full-Time | DIR School Setting

We are seeking a New Jersey–certified Special Education Teacher to work with middle school–aged students in a developmental, individual difference, relationship-based (DIR®-informed) learning environment. This role is ideal for an educator who believes that strong relationships, emotional safety, and understanding individual differences are the foundation for meaningful academic and social growth.

Qualifications:

• Valid New Jersey Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) certification
• High school subject-area certification
• Experience working with adolescents with learning and developmental differences
• Strong skills in building trusting relationships with students
• Experience with IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
• Familiarity with NJ Student Learning Standards

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver individualized instruction aligned with students’ developmental profiles and IEP goals
• Create a classroom environment that supports regulation, engagement, and positive peer relationships
• Use flexible, responsive teaching strategies that meet students where they are developmentally
• Collaborate closely with therapists, support staff, administrators, and families as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to holistic, child-centered planning
• Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with NJDOE requirements

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
