Job Title: Spirometry Technician

Department: Pulmonology / Respiratory Medicine
Location: Hospital Setting
Reports To: Pulmonologist / HOD – Respiratory Medicine

Job Summary:

The Spirometry Technician is responsible for conducting pulmonary function tests (PFTs), particularly spirometry tests, to assess lung capacity and respiratory function. The role involves preparing patients, operating spirometry equipment, ensuring accurate data collection, and assisting physicians in diagnosing and monitoring respiratory conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform spirometry and other pulmonary function tests as prescribed by the physician.
  • Prepare and instruct patients on proper breathing techniques during testing.
  • Ensure calibration, maintenance, and proper functioning of spirometry equipment.
  • Record, analyze, and report test results accurately.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure adherence to hospital policies.
  • Follow infection control protocols and sterilization procedures.
  • Assist pulmonologists during specialized respiratory diagnostic procedures.
  • Maintain documentation and update patient records in the hospital information system.
  • Monitor patient condition during testing and report any abnormal findings immediately.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Qualification & Requirements:

  • Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy, Pulmonary Technology, or relevant allied health science field.
  • Certification in Spirometry or Pulmonary Function Testing preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in a hospital or diagnostic center (freshers may be considered).
  • Knowledge of respiratory diseases and pulmonary testing procedures.
  • Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with hospital software systems.
  • Good communication and patient-handling skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹8,086.00 - ₹40,147.69 per month
