While working with us you’ll get to work on complex distributed systems and solve massive scale problems centered on new payment flows, business and data solutions, cyber security, and B2C platforms.

The Opportunity:

We are looking for versatile, curious, and energetic Senior Staff Software Engineers who embrace solving complex challenges on a global scale. As a Senior Staff Software Engineer in the Issuing Solutions group, you will spearhead the architecture and design of a variety of projects. You will drive technical solutions that have a direct impact on the payment industry. The solutions you design will be large scale, always available, secure, fast, accessible, and globally ready with an impact measured in future years.

  • Be able to come up with and evangelize architectural guidelines from an engineering standpoint to develop massively scalable, distributed systems.
  • Review and recommend Visa and open-source/commercial libraries to deliver best-in-class software as per project requirements.
  • Lead meetings and discussions with product and architecture teams.
  • Lead and provide technical mentoring to a team of talented engineers and guide them on development and testing best practices.
  • Leverage newer technologies and lead efforts to architect, design and implement/test various aspects of secure payment solutions.
  • Understand and enhance coding guidelines and oversee code review processes.
  • Review test strategy and test cases developed by test engineers to ensure optimum quality of solutions being delivered.
  • Adhere to Agile/Scrum best practices and plan well in advance for sprint-based development and testing to ensure smooth releases on time and with high quality.
  • Contribute towards team’s innovation agenda by leading efforts for participation in Hackathon and similar events through submission of unique ideas for payment solutions.
  • Have a passion for emerging GenAI technologies, with an ability to understand and align with Visa’s strategy in this area and guiding and shaping team’s adoption plan accordingly.

The Skills You Bring:

  • Energy and Experience: A growth mindset that is curious and passionate about technologies and enjoys challenging projects on a global scale.
  • Challenge the Status Quo: Comfort in pushing the boundaries, ‘hacking’ beyond traditional solutions.
  • Language Expertise: Expertise in one or more general development languages (e.g., Java, C#, C++).
  • Builder: Experience building and deploying modern services and web applications with quality and scalability.
  • Learner: Constant drive to learn new technologies such as Angular, React, Kubernetes, Docker, etc.
  • Partnership: Experience collaborating with Product, Test, Dev-ops, and Agile/Scrum teams.

  • Hands-on development experience in backend technologies including JAVA, J2EE, SQL, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, MongoDB, JPA/Hibernate, Kafka, and RabbitMQ.
  • Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, problem-solving, and complexity analysis.
  • Experience with Application Servers and Databases such as Tomcat and Oracle, with knowledge of MongoDB, Cassandra, or Couchbase as a strong plus.
