The Role

As a member of the Nursing & Midwifery Executive, the Deputy Director of Nursing & Midwifery is responsible for the onsite co-ordination and daily operational management of the Facility. This includes the coordination of nursing and midwifery resources, patient access & demand related matters as well as incident response and escalation. The position will provide leadership and service development in areas relating to access and patient flow, after hours management, clinical support and risk management.

Selection Criteria

  • Registered Nurse who holds current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Holds tertiary management qualifications or equivalent work experience relevant to the role. With demonstrated leadership skills and evidence of the ability to motivate, inspire and organise staff to achieve organisational outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience at a senior level in organizational patient flow, workforce management and incident response
  • Demonstrated broad clinical, operational and strategic experience at a senior level within a complex health care environment, with an ability to function as part of a senior management team
  • Demonstrated high level verbal, written and negotiation skills with an aptitude to utilize relevant information technology platforms and ability to provide clear and concise business plans and reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, develop and sustain a change process to improve patient and/or organisational outcomes
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in human resources and financial management within a complex health care service.
  • Demonstrated in depth knowledge of current clinical practice models of care, as well as the risks and challenges associated with these in achieving service and clinical outcomes.
