Essential Functions:

1. Practices within the scope of Pharmacist licensure and maintains an active, unrestricted license;

2. Protects and preserves patient rights, including but not limited to strict protection of patients’ personal health information (PHI) and complete compliance with all HIPAA standards

3. Supervises and ensures the quality and safe preparation of medications and the process of dispensing to assigned patients;

4. Screens medication orders for accuracy, contraindications, and drug interactions;

5. Supervises all pharmacy department staff to ensure proper workflow;

6. Assists with the oversight and responsibility for Pharmacy Staff orientation/continued training;

7. Ensures security of the pharmacy area;

8. Maintains inventory levels within acceptable standards;

9. Maintains vendor relationships with computer hardware/software companies, drug wholesalers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and Guaranteed Purchase Option (GPO);

10. Serves as a resource to all professional staff for questions or other information relating to the use of pharmaceuticals;

11. Adheres to a delivery schedule for all prepared prescriptions;

12. Provides and promotes education to patients, patient families and the community about pharmacy products and services;

13. Informs Pharmacy Manager/Pharmacist in Charge of patient comments and complaints;

14. Responsible for the effective operation of the pharmacy;

15. Responsible for ensuring that delivered products and services have complete and appropriate documentation regarding the products delivered, services rendered, patient education provided and all business-related activities, e.g. contact with providers, vendors, etc.;

16. Responsible to communicate patient needs to physicians and case managers in a professional manner;

17. Responsible to monitor client’s medical needs over the phone, as required;

18. Performs QA studies, as needed (competency assessments);

19. Participate in meetings of the company to include Staff Committee requiring pharmacy representation, as needed;

20. 20% of overall responsibilities are dedicated to Quality Management;

21. Monitor staff performance according to objectives and Quality Management Program;

22. Promotes effective written/verbal communications;

23. Promotes and maintains pharmacy compliance with accrediting organization standards (URAC) for Mail Service v3.0

24. Promotes and maintains compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory agencies regarding the operation of the pharmacy to include FDA mandates and manufacturer restrictions for specific drugs;

25. Promotes education for company employees;

26. Promotes the education of patients, patient families, and the community;

27. Participates in personal professional growth and development;

28. Completes the required CEUs mandated to maintain licensure and/or minimum of 8 hours of in-service and training per year; and

29. Other job relevant tasks as requested and necessary.

Qualifications:

1. Education:

a. Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy. A Pharm D preferred

2. Experience: Previous clinical pharmacy support for pharmacy, DM programs, Quality and UM. Exposure to managed care preferred. Minimum 1 years’ experience as a registered pharmacist.

3. Licenses/Certifications: Licensed pharmacist in the state of Michigan

4. Special Skills:

a. Independence with regards to clinical discussions and evaluations;

b. Ability to use pharmaceutical and medical reference literature to provide drug information to health plans, patients and prescribers;

c. 2nd language spoken preferred;

d. Management skills preferred; and

e. Good interpersonal skills required.

5. Technical Skills:

a. Familiarity with computer and Windows PC applications, which includes the ability to learn new and complex computer system application and

b. Digital dexterity e.g. use of computer keyboard.

6. Applicants must be able to pass a drug test and criminal background investigation and, depending on position requirements, a Department of Defense background investigation.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

1. Physical Activities: Standing, sitting, reaching, grasping, lifting, walking, climbing and kneeling.

2. Mental Activities: Make general decisions in the absence of specific directions, e.g. prioritizing; perform activities requiring sustained concentration e.g. planning.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour
