Description:
M.J. Bale is seeking a State Based Custom Specialist to lead and elevate our Custom Program across Victoria. This is not a standard retail role — this is a commercially driven, relationship-focused position for someone who thrives on building a strong client portfolio, driving B2B and B2C growth, and delivering exceptional bespoke experiences.
This role will work closely with Retail, Marketing, Brand and Corporate Sales to execute strategic growth initiatives while taking ownership of performance, profitability and the overall Custom customer journey across VIC.
The Opportunity
As our VIC Custom Specialist, you will:
Drive Custom Sales & Client Growth
Proactively acquire new clients and develop strategic corporate partnerships (B2C & B2B)
Build and nurture VIP relationships, driving repeat business and database growth
Own the end-to-end Custom journey from consultation and measurement through to fittings and final delivery
Create tailored proposals and solutions for individual and corporate clients
Develop and execute creative sales strategies to grow market share across Victoria
Lead & Influence Retail Performance
Support and coach retail teams to achieve sales targets and Custom KPIs
Lead by example, demonstrating exceptional Custom selling techniques
Provide styling guidance and training to elevate team performance
Ensure premium customer service standards are consistently delivered
Maintain strong operational and presentation standards
Own Commercial & Financial Performance
Manage the Custom Program P&L across VIC
Analyse sales performance and identify opportunities to improve margin and profitability
Monitor fabric inventory and production alignment to maximise sales opportunities
Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and the overall client experience
Champion the Custom Brand Experience
Lead and support Custom, VIP and corporate events
Collaborate with Marketing, Brand and PR to drive awareness of the Custom Program
Promote appointment-based styling and premium service experiences
Monitor competitor activity and identify new business opportunities within the VIC market
Skills and Experiences:
About You
Proven experience in luxury menswear, tailoring, or a high-end clientele-focused environment
Strong knowledge of fabrics, garment construction, alterations and fit
Exceptional selling and relationship-building skills
Commercially minded with strong numerical and financial acumen
Highly organised with strong attention to detail
Entrepreneurial, proactive and motivated to grow a market
Confident communicator with strong presentation and styling capability
Passionate about premium product and delivering an exceptional customer experience
