The Communications Director is responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day operations of the communications team and serves as the lead communications official in the department. In this role the incumbent is responsible for the overall content of the department’s internal and external communications as well as the development of the department’s annual communication plan. This position will prepare updates and disseminate a wide variety of public information regarding the department and state business including news releases, press conferences, newsletters, articles, website content and social media.

Required Education and Experience

Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

Experience
Two years of experience as a professional manager or program/staff specialist, or equivalent experience.

Alternate Education and Experience

Education level typically acquired through completion of high school and three years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement experience at the 14 level; or, two years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement supervisory experience at the 15 level, may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.
