General Responsibilities:
- Report to the Client's Construction Manager (or designate) and coordinate with relevant Client stakeholders to perform the Services.
- Participate in project planning, including pre-project meetings with Client staff to align with contractors and create effective work schedules.
- Develop strategies to address potential construction or environmental challenges.
- Notify the Client of project risks, including those affecting schedule and budget.
- Follow all Client policies, procedures, and applicable codes and standards, as well as relevant occupational health and safety regulations.
- Perform and document inspections on critical aspects of the work, ensuring quality through testing, surveying, and security compliance.
- Oversee the work of other contractors to maintain quality assurance.
- Submit inspection, progress, and incident reports to the Client as requested.
- Confirm correct permitting, access, and right-of-way mapping, coordinating with lands and public consultations when necessary.
- Manage the handover of facilities/equipment to the Client's Operations department as required.
- Oversee project scheduling to meet specific site requirements, coordinating with contractors and internal resources.
- Conduct QA/QC on contractor work, creating necessary documentation and tracking deficiencies through a centralized register.
- Identify material delivery needs in collaboration with the Materials Specialist and Project Manager, ensuring timely procurement and site delivery per the project schedule.
- Oversee the transfer of materials from Client to contractors, completing any QA/QC requirements.
- Ensure surplus and salvage material from completed jobs is transported per Client standards.
- Maintain familiarity with the construction contract terms, schedule, and technical specifications.
- Communicate and resolve coordination issues with the Client and contractors.
- Evaluate contractor performance and progress, recommending payments as per contract terms.
- Manage Change Order requests between project stakeholders.
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, a National Diploma of Technology in either Civil, Structural, or Electrical from an Institute of Technology, or relevant trades apprenticeship course, or equivalent.
- 5 years of related transmission (72kV and above) stations or lines construction experience.
- Knowledge of contract law and contract administration.
- Training: CODC, Safety Construction Orientation Training (SCOT), First AID/CPR, Qualified Electrical Worker Certificate, Lines Safety Certification, Station Safety Certification
