Advisor, Data and Products
- We are looking for analysts who love getting their hands dirty with data; solving problems; and communicating insights through data and visualisations.
- End to end production of data and stats
- R, Power BI, SQL.
- Two permanent roles.
The Data & Products team provide a base of data and evidence on housing and urban development and make that evidence accessible for NZ, the housing system, and Te Tuapapa Kura Kainga (HUD). The team produce regular data and statistics products for internal and external customers and are responsible for collecting, managing and stewarding the data that HUD needs. The team also provides a critical service to teams across HUD, ensuring they have access to the data and information they need to make important policy decisions.

We are looking for analysts who love getting their hands dirty with data; solving problems and ccommunicating insights through data and visualisations.
Working closely with the other analysts in the team you will:
- Produce regular data and Statistics such as the Housing Dashboard
- Work with colleagues across Te Tuapapa Kura Kainga, Minister's offices and other government departments to help them find the data and evidence they need.
- Manage and curate consistent, high-quality data and products.
- Develop new tools and products to increase accessibility and understanding of data and evidence.

For this role, we are seeking people who are at home with data, who can work with customers to understand their needs and deliver the right solution. You will understand and communicate the limitations of data and analysis, and are able to understand sources and systems to use the right data to answer the question.
You will be a self-starter, with the ability to plan, prioritise and cut through to the urgent and important to achieve a good balance between time and quality. You will also have:
- No fear of asking questions or saying 'I don't understand'.
- An understanding of the importance of good data visualisation to tell a story and enhance understanding and experience creating clear and engaging charts and tables.
- A continuous improvement outlook, seeking out potential for improvements in our systems and processes.
- An understanding of Te Tiriti and the knowhow to consider how it applies to your work.
- Attention to detail.
You will have the following skills:
- A working-skilled level of R programming for data manipulation and cleaning, including good practice in version control and coding standards.
- Data Visualisation -experience developing or maintaining reports and dashboards in Power BI
- Familiarity with SQL, understanding of database structures and queries.
The salary range for these roles is $73,946-$90,378.
