The Role

We are currently searching for a Stewardship Coordinator, reporting to the Manager, Stewardship & Recycling. This is a 12-month, full-time Contract opportunity. This role supports the Stewardship team by expanding the empty returns network in Ontario during the transitional period of the Extended Industry Agreement (EIA). The primary focus will be on addressing service gaps, ensuring an efficient returns process, and enhancing the overall functionality of the network to improve customer service and operational effectiveness.

Location

Our Corporate Office is located in Bolton, ON. We offer Remote/Hybrid Flex work with visits into the office on an as-needed basis, depending on the role and function. The incumbent for this role must possess a valid driver’s license with access to transportation for travel to various sites.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead expansion of empty returns network to provide coverage assessment, communications, implementation, and support; closely coordinate with the marketing and strategy team
  • Build community relationships to execute empty returns agreements and to promote returns network expansion program
  • Monitor and track accessibility for consumer returns, behavior trends, and location performance primarily in Ontario and BC
  • Assist with the development of annual stewardship reporting and data gathering (i.e., annual reports for Ontario and BC, corporate ESG/CDP reporting) as well as other reporting changes specific to Ontario
  • Support BC stewardship program performance monitoring
  • Manage daily data tracking around commodity shipments and payments.
  • Perform weighing and tracking of containers to determine standard average weight
  • Assist with minute-taking and admin for provincial stewardship boards in BC (BRCCC) and Alberta (ABCC)
  • Assist with staff, consumer, or depot inquiries related to stewardship and/or sustainability
  • Act as a liaison with the marketing team to lead stewardship messaging and key campaigns across provinces, ensuring content is current on all digital platforms, including social media and websites
  • Oversee the planning and execution of special events, partnerships, and sponsorship programs (e.g., Earth Day, pilot projects) while identifying new sponsorship opportunities
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned

Who You Are - Your Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in related field is preferred (Business Administration, Analytics, Environmental Management/Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility)
  • Valid drivers license with access to a vehicle required

Experience

  • 1-3 years of related experience in business administration, analytics, or sustainability
  • 1-3 years related experience in a corporate sustainability capacity preferred
  • Project Management experience would be an asset

Skills

  • Above average communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to initiate and complete projects in a proactive, self-directed manner
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Strong interest in sustainability, stewardship and recycling
