Position Overview
As the Stores Manager based in Ballycoolin, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the stores and materials management function within our manufacturing facility. Working closely with the Procurement Manager and Production Team, you will ensure that materials and components are efficiently received, stored, and issued to production, maintaining optimal stock levels and ensuring traceability and accuracy through SAP.
You will lead a small team to maintain high standards of stock control, organization, and safety within the stores area, supporting the smooth and efficient operation of our production lines.
Key Responsibilities
Stock Management and Control
- Manage day-to-day stock control operations and maintain agreed stock levels to support uninterrupted production.
- Regularly monitor and reconcile stock quantities in SAP, ensuring data accuracy and traceability.
- Conduct periodic stock counts and cycle counts; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Develop and maintain stock management procedures and KPIs to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
Goods Inward / Outward
- Supervise and assist with the receipt, inspection, and logging of all incoming deliveries.
- Verify all deliveries against purchase orders, checking for quality, quantity, and any damage.
- Oversee the correct labelling, storage, and documentation of received materials.
- Coordinate the dispatch of finished goods or materials to external locations as required.
Material Handling and Logistics
- Schedule and prioritise material movements to support production and assembly operations.
- Oversee forklift operations, including loading and unloading of trucks and internal transport.
- Ensure proper segregation and storage of different material categories (e.g., electrical components, hardware, metalwork).
Systems and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date stock records in SAP or other ERP systems.
- Generate stock and material usage reports for management review.
- Report on damaged goods, shortages, and supplier discrepancies promptly.
Safety and Compliance
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment within the stores area.
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety and manual handling regulations.
- Conduct routine checks on lifting equipment and storage racks in accordance with safety standards.
Team Leadership and Collaboration
- Supervise and develop store operatives, ensuring consistent performance and adherence to company policies.
- Work closely with the Procurement, Production, and Quality departments to coordinate material requirements.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork within the stores function.
Key Skills and Competencies
- Strong understanding of stock control and warehouse operations within a manufacturing environment 3 to 5 years’ experience
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and team leadership abilities.
- Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
- Forklift licence and experience (counterbalance/reach truck).
- Commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards.
