About Brennans Pharmacy

Brennan's Pharmacy Group is an independently owned, family-run pharmacy business founded in Buncrana in 1992. We now operate four community pharmacy locations across Co. Donegal, alongside a growing eCommerce website.

We have been part of Donegal's communities since 1992, and we take that responsibility seriously - in how we serve our patients and customers, how we treat our team, and how we run our business.

That comes through in practical ways: warm and friendly service, trusted advice, genuine care, high standards, and support for the local community. Our core values are Integrity, Respect, Compassion, Excellence, Community and Teamwork.

About the role

We are recruiting a Store Manager for Brennans Pharmacy Letterkenny.

This is a hands-on retail leadership role for someone who can take ownership of front-of-shop performance, improve standards, develop the retail team, and bring a stronger commercial rhythm to the store.

There is plenty of opportunity here for someone who enjoys hands-on leadership and takes pride in improving things day by day. We are looking for someone who enjoys getting into the detail: customers, merchandising, team routines, sales and margin, stock and standards, promotions and follow-through.

The successful candidate will lead the retail side of the store, working closely with the pharmacy team to ensure a professional, joined-up experience for every patient and customer. The prescription, clinical and healthcare side of the pharmacy is led by our Supervising Pharmacist.

Why this role matters

Brennans Pharmacy Letterkenny sits adjacent to Sonas Medical, a newly opened GP surgery serving both medical card and private patients. Together, they form a developing community healthcare hub.

That creates a real opportunity to grow footfall, improve the retail offer, build stronger OTC, skincare and wellness categories, strengthen the customer experience, develop the retail team, and improve store standards and commercial performance.

This role will suit someone who wants to make a practical, visible difference to how a store performs day to day.

What you'll be responsible for

Your main responsibility will be to lead and improve the front-of-shop retail performance of Brennans Pharmacy Letterkenny.

You will be expected to:

- Lead from the shop floor and set the standard for customer service

- Take ownership of retail sales, margin and cost control

- Use sales data, targets and performance reports to guide decisions

- Build stronger daily and weekly routines across the store

- Lead, support and develop the retail team

- Improve merchandising, promotions and in-store presentation

- Drive growth across OTC, skincare, wellness and front-of-shop categories

- Maintain high standards of stock control, housekeeping and retail execution

- Bring forward practical ideas and take responsibility for testing them

- Work with the Managing Director to improve accountability and performance

- Support initiatives that connect in-store retail with Brennan's growing eCommerce website

You will also contribute to supplier relationships, product sourcing and range development where appropriate.

What we're looking for

We are looking for someone with proven ability to deliver results in a commercially accountable retail role.

You should be comfortable with sales and margin, targets and performance reports, team leadership, customer service standards, merchandising and promotions, and stock, routines and follow-through.

Just as importantly, you should understand that good retail depends on people, consistency and care.

The right person is likely to be warm, approachable and customer-focused. They will be commercially sharp and standards-driven, practical, organised and resilient, low-ego but confident enough to lead. They will be comfortable holding themselves and others accountable, and genuinely interested in skincare, wellness, OTC and retail trends.

They will also be able to build trust with customers, colleagues and the wider Brennan team.

Cultural fit matters to us. We are looking for someone who can deliver commercial results in a way that fits Brennan's: with integrity, respect, care for customers, high standards, and a strong team mindset.

This role will suit someone who wants to win in the right way: by improving the customer experience, building the team, growing the numbers, and raising standards week by week.

Experience

A minimum of three years' experience in retail pharmacy is highly desirable.

However, we will also consider strong candidates from related retail sectors where there is clear commercial ability, leadership potential, and a genuine interest in pharmacy, skincare, wellness and customer care.

Relevant backgrounds may include:

- Pharmacy retail

- Beauty, skincare or cosmetics

- Health, wellness or lifestyle retail

- Premium retail or customer-led retail environments

- Other retail settings where service, trust, standards, team leadership and commercial performance matter

Full product and OTC training will be provided.

A full, clean driving licence is essential.

Why this role may suit you

This role may suit someone who wants more scope than a standard store manager position, but who still enjoys practical shop-floor retail.

You will be close to the customer, close to the day-to-day decisions that shape the store, close to the numbers, and close to the people who can help you get things done.

We are not a large corporate chain, so good ideas do not have to travel through several layers before they are tried. At the same time, the role comes with clear expectations, agreed targets, and a shared focus on following improvements through properly.

For the right candidate, there is real scope over time to contribute more broadly across Brennans Pharmacy Group, including areas such as retail standards, sales training, marketing, group buying, supplier relationships, product sourcing and commercial development.

This may also suit someone looking to move from a larger city environment and take on broader responsibility in a growing independent business based in Letterkenny, while benefiting from the quality of life that Donegal offers.

Package

We are offering a strong package for the right person, reflecting the importance of this role to the Letterkenny store and to the wider Brennan's Pharmacy Group.

- Base salary: €40,000–€45,000, depending on experience and fit

- OTE: Opportunity to earn up to €50,000 based on agreed results and profitability

- Bonus structure: Linked to clearly defined store targets

- Development: Ongoing support, training and potential to grow into wider group contribution

Selection Process

Our process is designed to identify people with strong judgement, commercial ability, leadership potential and cultural fit.

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a short assessment stage, including an aptitude element, before being invited to a structured in-person interview process.

How to apply

Please email your CV and a covering note to Brian at brianhr@brennansteam.ie. For this role, we are asking candidates to apply by email rather than through the Indeed 'Apply Now' button. This allows us to review your CV and covering note together and gives you the best opportunity to set out your relevant experience properly.

In your covering note, please include:

- An example of how you improved sales, margin or performance in a previous role

- One new idea you introduced and what happened as a result

- Why this role suits you now

- Where your experience could improve our store culture or customer experience

Please write your covering note in your own words, using real examples from your experience. We are much more interested in practical evidence than a polished generic cover letter.

Please note - all applications will be acknowledged, but only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

Pay: €40,000.00-€45,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Bike to work scheme
  • Company events
  • Employee assistance program
  • Employee discount
  • On-site parking
