5. Hours of Work: 35- 40 hours per week
Position Purpose
To manage the end-to-end operations of a retail petrol station and attached convenience store. This role involves full managerial responsibility for the business site including staffing, compliance, inventory, budgeting, product mix, marketing, and customer service, ensuring operational efficiency and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Operations Management
- Oversee all daily store operations including opening and closing procedures
- Develop and implement store operating policies and procedures
- Maintain a safe and compliant working environment in line with HSNO and Worksafe regulations
- Manage scheduling of fuel deliveries and ensure secure fuel inventory controls
2. Financial and Strategic Management
- Prepare and manage store budgets, forecasts, and financial performance reports
- Analyze financial and sales data to identify trends and develop improvement strategies
- Manage pricing and stock control to optimize margins and reduce wastage
- Develop and maintain a strategic product mix based on customer demand, seasonal trends, and profitability
- Make decisions regarding stock range and procurement to meet business objectives
- Authorize expenditure, discounts, and refunds in line with store policy
3. Human Resources Management
- Recruit, onboard, and manage all store staff
- Develop rosters, monitor attendance, and ensure coverage during peak hours
- Provide staff training on safety, customer service, and operational procedures
- Monitor and review staff performance and handle disciplinary processes as needed
4. Customer and Community Engagement
- Ensure high levels of customer service are maintained at all times
- Handle escalated complaints and resolve complex customer service issues
- Implement local marketing and promotional campaigns to drive foot traffic and sales
5. Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with industry-specific health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Conduct regular workplace audits and implement corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with product handling and food safety standards (if applicable)

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, POS systems, and inventory software
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 6 months’ experience in a comparable managerial role in retail or service industry
- Relevant tertiary qualification (NZQA Level 6 or higher in Business Management or equivalent preferred)
