A Storeperson is responsible for the efficient storage and management of inventory within a warehouse or store, including receiving goods, checking for damage, accurately storing items, picking and packing orders, maintaining stock records, and ensuring the smooth flow of goods throughout the facility. Key Responsibilities:
- Receiving and Checking Goods:Accurately receive incoming deliveries, verify quantities against purchase orders, and inspect goods for damage or defects.
- Stock Storage:Properly store inventory in designated locations, utilizing appropriate labeling and rotation methods to maintain product quality.
- Inventory Management:Maintain accurate stock records by updating inventory systems with received and dispatched items, performing cycle counts as needed.
- Order Picking and Packing:Pick and pack orders according to customer requirements, ensuring correct items and quantities are included.
- Shipping and Dispatch:Prepare orders for shipment, including labeling and packaging, and coordinate with delivery services.
- Stock Rotation:Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) principles to manage expiry dates and prevent stock from becoming obsolete.
- Warehouse Maintenance:Keep the warehouse clean and organized, maintaining proper safety standards.
- Data Entry:Input relevant data into inventory management systems, including receiving details, stock levels, and order information.
Required Skills:
- Qualification or Experience: NZQF Level 2 or 3 qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 4)
At least one year of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately count and check items, ensuring correct order fulfillment.
- Physical Fitness: Capability to lift and move heavy items safely.
- Basic Computer Skills: Proficiency with inventory management systems and data entry.
- Organization and Time Management: Efficiently prioritize tasks and manage workload to meet deadlines.
- Forklift Operation (if required): Ability to operate a forklift safely and effectively.
