This team plays a critical role in enabling customer-facing store technology—including Point of Sale (POS), self-checkout —as well as back-office tools such as scanners and inventory management systems.
As the Team Lead, you will oversee a group of skilled engineers and work closely with business stakeholders, architects, and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and high-performing store technology solutions. You will lead the team in the design, development, and deployment of new capabilities, ensuring that in-store tech solutions align with business needs and industry best practices. Your leadership will drive continuous improvement, enhance operational efficiency, and support the evolving digital transformation of our retail ecosystem.
This is an exciting opportunity for a tech-savvy leader who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-centric environment and is passionate about enabling seamless store operations through technology. If you love solving complex problems and driving innovation in the retail tech space, this could be your next big opportunity!
As part of the Group Technology Solutions and Engineering team, you will report to the Head of Integration, Architecture and Omni Channel Platforms and collaborate closely with fellow solution engineers and a wide range of business stakeholders. This role balances team leadership cross-functional collaboration, where you’ll drive seamless solutions that enable the business to achieve its goals.
Lead and mentor a team of engineers responsible for in-store technology solutions.
Oversee the development, integration, and maintenance of key retail tech systems, including POS, self-checkout, and mobile scanning solutions.
Work closely with business and IT stakeholders to define technology roadmaps and ensure solutions align with operational goals.
Champion best practices in software development, DevOps, and IT service management.
Monitor and optimize system performance, reliability, and security.
Stay up to date with emerging retail technology trends and drive innovation initiatives.
Foster a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning within the team.
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about finding robust, efficient solutions for complex business problems and can deliver those solutions with the level of maintainability required by a large organization. You should be capable of solving problems independently and possess a solid understanding of the technical environment in a large organization, including networking, security, change control processes, project delivery, and a strong grasp of programming concepts.
You will bring the following to the role:
8+ years of experience in software development or technology leadership, with a focus on store or retail technology.
Proven experience managing or leading a technical team in a large-scale retail or enterprise environment.
Strong understanding of POS systems, self-checkout technology, and payment processing solutions.
Understanding of integration technologies such as APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
Solid grasp of networking, security, and compliance standards in a retail environment.
Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a proactive mindset to tackle operational challenges.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
A passion for technology-driven innovation and process improvement.
A willingness to share knowledge and contribute within a team.
Resilience and openness to change.
