MUST HAVE 5 yrs EXPERIENCE, The Steel Fabrication Estimator is responsible for accurately assessing and calculating the costs associated with steel fabrication projects. This includes analyzing blueprints, specifications, and proposals to determine the materials, labor, and time required to complete projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of steel fabrication processes, materials, and industry standards. MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE in STEEL ESTIMATING.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation:
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to develop accurate cost estimates.
  • Calculate material, labor, and equipment costs required for each project.
  • Develop detailed and itemized estimates that include all necessary components such as materials, labor, subcontractors, and overheads.
  • Project Analysis:
  • Conduct site visits and engage in discussions with clients to gather additional information and clarify project scope.
  • Identify potential risks, challenges, and opportunities in project execution that could impact costs.
  • Vendor & Supplier Coordination:
  • Communicate with vendors and suppliers to obtain quotes for materials and services.
  • Evaluate supplier quotations and negotiate terms to ensure the best possible pricing and delivery schedules.
  • Bid Preparation:
  • Prepare and submit detailed bid proposals and tenders within the required timelines.
  • Collaborate with the sales and project management teams to ensure that all bids are competitive and aligned with company objectives.
  • Cost Monitoring:
  • Assist in the development of budgets and monitor ongoing projects to ensure they remain within estimated costs.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to improve future estimates and project planning.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of all estimates, proposals, and related documentation.
  • Provide regular reports to management on the status of estimates and bidding activities.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience in steel fabrication.
  • Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in estimating within the steel fabrication industry.
  • Strong knowledge of steel materials, fabrication processes, and industry standards.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., Tekla, Bluebeam).
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Other Requirements:
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
  • Strong team player with a collaborative approach to work.
