Our Profile

The Institute for Gear Technology, Machine Dynamics and Robotics (IGMR) focusses on research and development in the fields of transmission technology, machine dynamics and robotics. We optimise drive systems, investigate dynamic processes in machines and develop advanced robot technologies. We combine practice-orientated solutions with innovative research and aim to contribute to the further development of automation technology.

  • Interesting work in an innovative subject area
  • Close supervision and regular feedback
  • Good IT equipment (remote access for working from home)
  • Access to the FANUC robot from Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm
  • Collaboration to improve teaching
  • Contribute and pursue your own solutions and ideas if you wish

Your Profile

  • Commitment to familiarising yourself with the content and asking questions
  • Working with students in English and answering questions should not be an obstacle for you
  • Maths should not scare you - Robotic Systems involves a lot of matrices and vectors, but it will not be very complicated
  • You do not need any previous knowledge of programming industrial robots, but a basic understanding of computer science (loops, counters, variables) would be useful
  • You are also welcome to bring knowledge of robotics, but this is not a must
  • Independent way of working and reliability
  • Your own ideas and adaptations are expressly encouraged if you wish
  • You are enrolled at a university or university of applied sciences

Your Duties and Responsibilities

We are currently looking for student assistants to strengthen our Robotic Systems team (https://www.igmr.rwth-aachen.de/cms/igmr/studium/lehrveranstaltungen/master/~vjskj/rs/) in the coming year and support the integration of the FANUC Education Cell (https://blog.rwth-aachen.de/robotik/category/fanuc-education-cell/) into teaching.

Your tasks will include support in practical courses on programming and describing robotics in English and familiarisation with the programming of a pick & place scenario using a FANUC robot (https://blog.rwth-aachen.de/robotik/category/fanuc-education-cell/).

Interested and committed applicants have the opportunity to travel to the German Championship in Robot System Integration as part of the IGMR team.
