About the Role:
Curtin University is a seeking an experienced Student Complex Case Manager to play a vital role in providing compassionate, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive support to students facing complex challenges that impact both their wellbeing and academic journey.
You will expertly coordinate across university functions to manage these sensitive cases with care, ensuring governance and oversight align with policy, regulatory standards, and best practice.
You will work closely with services across the University and take a hands-on role in managing complex cases, including critical incidents such as suicide, sudden death, or serious misconduct. This role is an opportunity to lead improvements in how we support students facing challenges such as sexual harm, domestic violence, mental health concerns, and other serious incidents.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Chair the Student Safer Communities Critical Response Group, ensuring all actions align with established policies and procedures.
- Lead complex case management from resolution to closure, using frameworks, reporting tools, and debriefs to track performance and drive service improvements.
- Monitor and analyse disclosure, report, and case outcome data to drive continuous improvements in systems, processes, documentation, communications and/or prevention and education programs.
- Provide expert advice to leadership on systemic risks, emerging trends and opportunities to enhance complex case management practices.
- Undertake and oversee comprehensive risk and needs assessments to guide support planning and ensure the safety and wellbeing of all involved.
- Coordinate responses to student-related critical incidents in collaboration with Safer Communities and internal teams, ensuring timely and appropriate support is provided.
- Design and deliver educational campaigns, training programs, and resources that promote prevention, awareness, and effective responses to student harm.
- A postgraduate qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Risk Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Extensive experience managing complex student or client cases within a university, legal, government, or human services environment.
- Strong knowledge of trauma-informed practice, duty of care and legislation and policies relevant to the higher education context.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify systemic issues and implement service and process improvements.
- Experience designing and delivering programs, training or initiatives that promote community education and address problem behaviours.
- Demonstrated project management and organisational skills, with experience leading cross-functional initiatives and balancing competing priorities to meet multiple deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Proven ability to engage effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, including Legal Services, Counselling and Wellbeing, Academic Registrar, Guild representatives, and Safer Communities.
- As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered

- This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check
