About the Department:
Our Peer Mentor Leads are an integral part of our Student Experience team, dedicated to providing exceptional pastoral support and career guidance to enhance student welfare. The team ensures that students receive the best possible experience and support throughout their journey from application and admission to graduation.
About the Opportunity:
We are seeking a Peer Mentor Lead to oversee and manage our Peer Mentor Programme for distance learning students. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in enhancing the student experience, driving engagement, and supporting retention efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage the Peer Mentor Programme for distance learning students.
- Guide and support student mentors, ensuring effective processes are in place to welcome and assist new students.
- Act as a student advocate, coordinating relationships between academic staff and students to foster collaboration and community.
- Collaborate with the Academic Persistence Programme team to support retention goals and monitor student engagement.
- Track, analyse, and report on student data to inform programme improvements and enhance outcomes.
- Coordinate and deliver activities aimed at promoting student success and persistence.
About You:
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, and detail-oriented individual who is committed to making a positive impact on students' academic journeys.
To be successful as a Peer Mentor Lead you should have:
- A strong passion for student success and higher education.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to thrive in fast-paced environments.
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in event coordination or student support is beneficial.
- Previous experience in supporting students, handling complaints, and using CRMs or student records systems is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of data protection principles and student development theory is advantageous.
