Meet the team
We are responsible for live and pre-recorded Continuity across TV and Radio platforms as well as all Weather output and Traffic and Travel bulletins on Radio. We also support a wide range of RTÉ’s content requirement across audio and video as the need requires.
We are looking for an experienced Studio Coordinator to work within the Continuity/Weather area which has a range of responsibilities within TV, Radio and Weather across all platforms. Primarily responsible for scripting, delivery and transmission of the on-air announcements that promote and retain audiences across the full range of RTÉ output.
Reporting to the Continuity/Weather Manager, you will be working within the Continuity/Weather department, primarily you are responsible for live and pre-recorded Television and Radio announcements, informing the audience of what is scheduled in the future or directing audiences to other areas of RTÉ’s wider portfolio of content and products.
The role can rotate between the Television, Radio and Weather areas. The role requires finely tuned editorial judgement, refined through experience working in live, broadcast environments as well as excellent communication skills.
About the role:
- Oversee the scripting and delivery of live and pre-recorded Continuity Announcements on Radio and Television
- Research, script and deliver live Traffic and Travel bulletins on RTÉ Radio 1, 2fm and Lyric fm
- Live Transmission editing responsibilities on RTÉ Radio 1, including operation of a radio desk
- Recording, editing and publishing pre-recorded Announcements across relevant parts of schedules
- Preparation and presentation of Weather bulletins on linear, digital and social platforms
- Liaising with programme teams in the content division and scheduling teams in the Operations division to ensure consistent and accurate content delivery.
About you:
- Creative script writing ability for digital/linear outputs managed by Continuity
- Strong operational knowledge of Radio/networks/platforms
- Ability to operate a Radio desk at an advanced level
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Clear ability to make a decision in a live transmission environment
- Keen editorial judgment
- Understanding of digital production/audio playout systems
- We are looking for individuals who are motivated self-starters with the ability to be flexible and dynamic, to solve problems and make decisions in a highly pressurised live broadcast environment
- You must be equally comfortable working as part of a team and by yourself as the role requires both.
The role incorporates shift work across seven days where shifts can on occasion involve unsocial hours.
This competition will conclude with the appointment of a casual panel, which will be assigned on an ad hoc basis to meet resource needs arising from annual leave and similar requirements. This panel will be in place for 12 months.
This appointment will be offered on a fixed-term casual basis in the Continuity/Weather area at the Studio Coordinator scale of €19.72 to €26.06 (hourly rate).
