We are seeking a new Summer Student for Building Services to join Brookfield Properties in Calgary, Alberta. This position involves providing tenants with a high level of customer service in the completion of tenant requests for Bankers Hall Complex. The successful candidate will perform maintenance duties and learn the fundamentals of building operations under the Supervisor's guidance.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Assist maintenance staff with basic maintenance (i.e., lighting, plumbing)

• Assist operations staff with chemical tests, mechanical rounds, HVAC calls, and general maintenance items

• Maintaining and tidying mechanical areas

• Assisting with painting as needed

• Embody and support Brookfield Properties’ Safety, Health, and Environment Policy

• Proactively identify, manage, and mitigate hazards to reduce risk to the workplace

• Engage in training and continuing education to develop the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to work safely

• Take action to stop work if it cannot be executed safely or if conditions or behaviours are unsafe

• Immediately report SH&E incidents, near-misses, unsafe conditions, and/or at-risk behaviors to their supervisor; then diligently work to correct the problem

• Promote safe work practices and working conditions per all Brookfield Properties Safe Work Procedures

• Wear Personal Protective Equipment when required

• Completion of other tasks as assigned

Your Qualifications:

• (Preferred) knowledge of steam and hot water boilers, water treatment, and HVAC systems

• Skilled in the use of hand tools

• General mechanical abilities are an asset

• Working knowledge of lighting systems and re-lamping procedures

• Previous experience cleaning and maintaining equipment.

• General cleaning duties

• Previous painting skills are an asset

• Familiar with computers, smartphones, professional apps, etc.

• Must have an understanding of the maintenance and operational routines of mechanical equipment

• (Preferred) enrolled in a Power Engineering Technology program and holding a 4th Class Power Engineer’s Certificate of Competency by the start date

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
