Summer Trainee, Software Engineering

We are looking for several Summer Trainees to join our Software organization in Helsinki. Our team is responsible for shaping the leading smart ring app experience on iOS and Android, as well as operating cloud services that support millions of daily users worldwide.

You will work within our existing squads, small and focused teams responsible for clearly defined areas. These range from customer-facing production features to internal tooling that supports the wider organization. Your role will be selected based on your skill set, experience, and interests, with the aim of giving you meaningful ownership and real impact.

The summer trainee period is planned to last 3–4 months, with timing flexible between May and September 2026. The positions will be based in Helsinki. We would like you to spend your first few weeks at the office to get fully up to speed with the team. Following this, we offer a hybrid working model with an expectation of being in the office roughly twice a week.

You’ll thrive in this role if you have

• Ongoing studies in a STEM-related field (e.g. computer science, mathematics, engineering), at least three years of studies, or equivalent experience and knowledge
• Solid foundations in programming and problem-solving, demonstrated through personal, academic, or professional projects
• Ability and experience to take ownership of your work, make progress independently, and collaborate closely within a team
  Interest to build and grow your skills in either native mobile or backend development: Swift (iOS), Kotlin (Android), or Python (backend)
• Ability to work and communicate effectively in English, which is our working language at Oura

We especially appreciate hands-on experience like

• Building, shipping, or maintaining personal projects
• Thriving in hackathons and/or national or international STEM competitions (e.g. mathematics, physics, programming)

Our process is the following:
Please send your application as soon as possible but no later than 1st of February. We will start reviewing the candidates immediately. We are expecting to receive a high volume of applications so this might take some time.

There will be 2-3 interviews

• 1st interview with Recruiter: focus on getting to know you and tell more about Oura’s company culture and values.
• 2nd interview with the hiring manager: focus on the role and your skills.
• If there’re multiple fitting candidates on this stage, we might organise a 3rd interview to find the fitting ones.

We aim to make our decisions by the end of February but we will let you know if there are any delays.

We base our salaries on TEK’s recommendation salaries for summer internships.
