Your Team:
Housing Preservation & Development Technology (HPD Tech) is the IT division within HPD. The Office of HPD
Tech leads the agency’s effort to transform HPD through technology by promoting productivity and eliminating
manual processing, shrinking costs, and increasing the pace of work. HPD Tech works to improve effectiveness of
business processes using core applications for flawless execution. HPD Tech empowers decision makers with access
to quality (complete and accurate) information to anticipate and pro-actively react to building, neighborhood and
market conditions.
The Office of HPDTech is composed of 7 units: CIO (Chief Information Office), CTO (Chief Technology Office),
CPO (Chief Product Office), Budget, Enterprise Architecture, Planning & Compliance, and Information Security.
Your Impact:
As the Quality Assurance Analyst for the Division of HPD Tech, you will play a key role in maintaining and
improving the reliability, functionality, and overall quality of our systems and applications.
Your Role:
You will support Quality Assurance (QA) activities such as identifying issues, debugging, performing smoke tests, and
documenting test cases. The Quality Assurance Intern will report directly to an assigned Senior Quality Assurance
Analyst.
Your Responsibilities:
As a Quality Assurance Intern, you will:
- Assist in designing, developing, and executing test plans and test cases.
- Identify, record, document, and track defects through resolution.
- Communicate with developers and other testers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Support the Lead QA Analyst with manual testing and writing automated test scripts.
- Attend daily Scrum meetings to discuss issues, progress, and potential solutions.
- Look for ways to improve monitoring, detect issues earlier, and deliver better value to users.
- Investigate technical issues and questions submitted by users.
- Help track and maintain test documentation, including specifications, test plans, installation/operational/performance qualifications, training plans, and related materials.
Preferred skills:
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at an accredited college or university.
- Strong understanding of software development principles and practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with software QA methodologies, tools, and processes (or willingness to learn).
- Experience with (or interest in learning) a variety of software testing tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a passion for quality.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development processes is a plus.
- Working toward a degree in Computer Science or a related field

Minimum Qualifications
As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
NOTE: Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program, June - August each year.

Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
