About the role
Curtin University’s Properties, Facilities and Development team is seeking a Supervisor, Parks & Gardens to oversee the maintenance and enhancement of our vibrant Public Realm and green assets.
In this pivotal role, you will lead a team of horticulture and grounds professionals across Curtin’s campuses. You’ll combine hands-on leadership with technical and administrative expertise to ensure our landscapes remain safe, sustainable, and visually inspiring.
Key Responsibilities:
You are an experienced horticulture or arboriculture professional with a passion for green spaces and sustainability. You bring proven leadership in team coordination, a strong understanding of amenity horticulture and tree management, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and monitor the maintenance of Curtin’s parks, gardens, and tree assets in line with industry standards and best practice.
- Lead and develop a positive, safe, and high-performing horticulture team.
- Provide expert advice on landscape development and contribute to capital works planning.
- Implement and monitor preventative maintenance systems and tree management programs.
- Manage contractors, procurement, and machinery maintenance in line with University policies.
- Support the development of annual operating and capital budgets.
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of major University events from a horticultural perspective.
You are an experienced horticulture or arboriculture professional with a passion for green spaces and sustainability. You bring proven leadership in team coordination, a strong understanding of amenity horticulture and tree management, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.
Essential Criteria:
- Qualifications in Horticulture, Arboriculture (Degree, Certificate 4), or equivalent experience and training (noting qualifications are not mandatory)
- Demonstrated experience supervising horticulture or grounds teams.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Proficiency with computer systems (Word, Excel, databases, AutoCAD).
- Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence and White Card.
- Experience in a tertiary or large institutional environment
- Licenses in Front End Loader, Skid Steer (Bobcat) and Forklift are desirable however can be undertaken if not already obtained
- Working at Heights qualification
- Chainsaw certification
- As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered.
