Supply Chain & Materials Lead

Guelph Twines Ltd. – Guelph, Ontario

Guelph Twines is a Canadian manufacturer of twisted paper cord, polypropylene twine, and cable filler materials used in packaging and industrial applications. Our products support industries including telecommunications, electrical infrastructure, and packaging.

We are seeking a Supply Chain & Materials Lead to take ownership of purchasing, supplier management, and material planning across our production operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with manufacturing, suppliers, and quality processes in a hands-on environment.

This position reports directly to the Plant Manager and works closely with production, engineering, and sales.

Key Responsibilities Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Source and purchase raw materials including polymers, paper, additives, and packaging
  • Manage supplier relationships and negotiate pricing, lead times, and supply agreements
  • Maintain and evaluate an approved supplier list
  • Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, and reliability
  • Issue and manage purchase orders through the ERP system

Materials Planning & Inventory

  • Plan material purchases based on production schedules and forecasts
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels to prevent stockouts and excess inventory
  • Track raw material usage and inventory trends
  • Work closely with production teams to ensure materials are available for scheduled runs

Quality & Materials Control

  • Coordinate incoming material inspection and verification
  • Maintain raw material specifications and technical documentation
  • Work with production to investigate and resolve material-related quality issues
  • Track testing results and support continuous improvement of quality processes

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain supplier certifications and regulatory documentation
  • Support customer requests for technical documentation and compliance information
  • Maintain material specifications, SDS/TDS files, and internal quality records

Qualifications Required

  • Experience in procurement, supply chain, or materials management in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong supplier management and negotiation skills
  • Experience working with ERP systems (SAP experience considered an asset)
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with production and technical teams

Preferred

  • Experience with plastics, paper, or industrial materials
  • Exposure to quality systems or manufacturing quality control
  • Technical documentation or product specification experience

Pay: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
