Job Overview
McMurrich Sprouts Daycare is a non-profit Child Care Centre located in a TDSB building. We operate 9 programs which include Infants through to School Age children. We are seeking dynamic Registered Early Childhood Educators available for supply work with the following qualifications: member of good standing with the College of ECE, valid standard first aid/CPR certificate - Level C, Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check (within 6 months), working knowledge of Child Care Early Years Act, and Toronto's Assessment for Quality Improvement. Must be legally able to work in Canada and have up to date immunizations required to work in a daycare setting.
Responsibilities
- Provides a physically safe and emotionally supportive environment showing sensitivity to individual needs of children in all aspects of development
- Uses a variety of teaching techniques including modeling, observing, questioning, demonstrating, and reinforcing
- Collaborates with colleagues to plan activities that support individual learning goals
- Communicates effectively with parents regarding their child’s progress and any concerns
- Supports children with special needs by adapting activities and providing appropriate accommodations
- Instructs and assists children in washing, dressing, toileting, etc., to develop self-help skills
- Feeds children/infants, ensuring adequate nourishment and that any special dietary requirements are met
- Adheres to staff and parent policies as set by the Board of Directors
- Engages in ongoing professional development to stay current with early childhood education best practices
Skills
- Fluency in English
- Strong childcare experience with children of various ages
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and curriculum development
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with children, parents, and team members
- Classroom management skills with the ability to organize activities efficiently
- Strong time management skills to balance multiple responsibilities effectively
- Leadership qualities to guide and mentor assistant staff or co-op students when necessary
- Exceptional writing skills for documentation and parent communication
- Organizational skills to maintain a well-structured classroom environment
