At Mai-Wel, we believe in empowering people to live independently, build confidence, and achieve their personal goals. We are seeking passionate, committed, and values-driven Support Workers to join our Supported Independent Living (SIL) team.
This is not just a support role — it is an opportunity to make a real and lasting impact in people’s lives while being part of a team that values professionalism, positivity, resilience, and purpose. We are building a team of people who bring heart, consistency, and genuine joy to their work.
About the Role
As a Support Worker in our SIL team, you will provide high-quality, person-centred support that enables participants to live meaningful, independent lives in a safe, respectful home environment.
You will:
- Provide person-centred support aligned with individual care plans and participant goals
- Support participants with daily living activities, skill development, and building independence
- Actively promote independence by encouraging participants to build life skills and confidence every shift
- Create a safe, welcoming, and respectful home environment for all participants
- Follow care plans consistently, confidently, and competently to ensure high-quality support delivery
- Work collaboratively with leadership to solve problems, share ideas, and contribute to continuous improvement
- Build strong, respectful relationships with participants while maintaining professional boundaries and dignity of care
- Contribute to a positive team culture built on respect, reliability, and excellence
- Work flexibly across a 24/7 roster, including day, afternoon, evening, sleepover, weekday, and weekend shifts
- Travel between sites and adapt to different home environments as required
We’re not looking for just anyone — we’re looking for a very specific kind of Support Worker. Someone who understands the responsibility, privilege, and impact of supporting people in their own homes.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Flexible thinking – You can adapt quickly and pivot when participant needs change
- Professional commitment – You take pride in your work, show reliability, and follow through on commitments
- Resilience – You remain steady, solution-focused, and calm in challenging situations
- A positive attitude – You actively contribute to a respectful, supportive, and positive team culture
- A genuine passion for independence building – You are driven to support participants to become the most independent version of themselves
- Strong communication skills – You collaborate effectively with leadership and team members to share ideas and solve problems
- Respect for home environments – You understand you are entering someone’s home and treat it with dignity and care
- Care plan confidence – You are competent, consistent, and detail-focused in following support plans
- Flexibility – You are available to work a variety of shifts across a 24/7 roster to meet participant needs
- Genuine purpose and care – You bring energy, compassion, and meaning to the work you do
