As this is a new organization, the successful candidate will be expected to be flexible in their
approach.
About The Role
Main Responsibilities:
• Work positively and constructively with residents, contributing to the planning, implementation, and review of individualised approaches and support programmes. • Support the development of key life skills, including self-help, domestic, kitchen, community, leisure, and social skills, through the creation and delivery of individualised support plans.
- Act as Key Worker for residents, including liaising with families, advocates, and external professionals.
- Administer, supervise, and accurately record prescribed medication in line with organisational policy and professional standards.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues.
- Take responsibility for the wellbeing, safety, and quality of life of the people we support within the service.
- Support the development of positive interpersonal relationships within the service and the wider community.
- Promote self-esteem, individuality, and personal autonomy, enabling each person to value themselves and make meaningful choices.
- Provide day-to-day care and support, ensuring that each person’s needs are met respectfully and consistently.
- Delivery of personal care where required, including assistance with dressing, washing, and other daily living tasks.
- Carry out household tasks, including cooking, shopping, cleaning, and caring for personal belongings, while encouraging and enabling people we support to participate as independently as possible.
- Facilitate meaningful leisure activities, tailored to individual preferences, with a strong emphasis on community inclusion and participation.
- Use person first language in all verbal and written communication.
• Liaise effectively with all grades of staff within the assigned center and across other services, and ensure families and visitors are treated with respect and consideration. • Undertake driving duties using company vehicles.
- Work a rostered shift pattern, including weekends and night duty as scheduled by management.
- Maintain accurate records and reports as required by the Person in Charge to support the effective running of the service.
- Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of staff and people we support, implementing all necessary safety precautions.
- Adhere to HIQA standards and maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of all relevant regulations and guidance.
- Provide cover in other centers as required to suit organisational needs.
- Work in line with Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans and proactive strategies to address any presenting behaviours that challenge.
- Support residents to express their wishes, preferences, and goals.
- Always maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Demonstrate reliability, integrity, and a commitment to high quality care.
- Engage in ongoing learning and development is relevant to the role.
- Attend team meetings, supervision, and training as required.

- Follow all organisational policies and safeguarding procedures.

Required Criteria
- Demonstrated commitment to the values of Harbour Care and to the wellbeing of residents.
- Proven ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Experience supporting people with intellectual disabilities and Autism, including those with varying support needs.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication to the individual.
- High levels of initiative, professionalism, and integrity.
- Commitment to supporting the rights, choices, and needs of people with intellectual disabilities and Autism.
- Ability to produce clear, concise, and accurate reports, both verbally and in writing.
- Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to adjust approaches as individuals’ needs evolve. A full clean driving licence.
