The Support Worker will provide high-quality, person-centered care and support to residents in a residential care setting. The role involves assisting residents with their daily living needs while promoting dignity, independence, choice, comfort and well being. The successful candidate will work closely with residents, families, nurses and other members of the care team to ensure that each resident receives safe, respectful and compassionate care in accordance with individual care plans and organisational policies.


About The Role

Main Duties
Assist residents with personal care, including washing, dressing, grooming, toileting and continence care.
Support residents with mobility, transfers and safe use of mobility equipment.
Assist with meals, hydration and feeding where required, while respecting dietary needs and preferences.
Provide companionship and emotional support and encourage residents to participate in social and recreational activities.
Observe residents’ physical, emotional and behavioural wellbeing and report any concerns or changes promptly to the nurse or senior staff member.
Follow individual care plans and accurately complete relevant care records and documentation.
Support residents to maintain their independence, dignity, privacy and personal choices.
Maintain a clean, safe and comfortable living environment.
Follow infection prevention and control procedures, manual handling guidance, safeguarding procedures and health and safety requirements.
Work effectively as part of the wider care team and communicate professionally with residents, relatives and colleagues.
Key Requirements
A caring, compassionate, patient and respectful approach.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Understanding of dignity, confidentiality, safeguarding and person-centred care.
Reliable, flexible and willing to work shifts, including weekends where required.
Previous experience in residential, nursing, disability or community care is desirable.
Relevant healthcare or care qualification is desirable or a willingness to complete required training.
Ability to follow care plans, policies, procedures and instructions accurately.
Commitment to providing a consistently high standard of care and supporting residents’ quality of life.
