Mō te tūnga | About the role

In this role you will be supporting our tāngata (the people we support) lead busy, active lives which may include attending day services classes, formal functions, gym classes, swimming and visiting whanau. Depending on which whare you join, you could also be supporting where there is a priority focus on lifestyle and rehabilitation programmes.


You will be joining a fun, supportive and professional team who make a significant impact on the quality of life for our tāngata. Be part of this and contribute to our tāngata living their best life. The role does include supporting tāngata with their everyday tasks such as showering/bathing.


We work to a rotating 24/07 roster, typically the shifts are:


  • 7am-3pm.
  • 3pm-11pm.
  • 11pm-7am (sleep over includes an additional allowance).
  • 1pm-9pm.

You may not have previous experience, but you enjoy supporting those around you in your own life, you are the ‘go to’ support person and you are naturally drawn to helping others.


You may have significant life experience which includes caring for a loved one; you may be tired of manual labour and looking for something more fulfilling; you may be retired with time to spare, or you may now be able to work around other whanau commitments. You may even be studying and just starting out in your career.

Your skills will include:

  • Working with diversity
  • Ability to engage and influence.
  • Great communications skills
  • The ability to set goals and work towards them.
  • Basic level of computer skills
  • Good level of literacy and numeracy
  • Qualifications in Health & Wellbeing/Mental Health (advantage)
  • Good level of physical fitness
  • Full NZ driver licence
