Support Worker - Overnight Sleep

About the role

As a Support Worker with Activ, you will be making a real impact in the lives of others by helping people with disabilities through accommodation and community engagement. We currently have a 2 permanent overnight sleep shifts available in Australind for female* support workers. With 7 shifts a fortnight, including a weekend, hours range from the earliest start of 3pm, to the latest finish of 9am (9 hours worked, broken by an onsite 8-hour sleep period).

Please note that for the 8 hour unpaid sleep period between 10pm-6am, you remain at the home and sleep in your own private room.

A typical day as a Support Worker may look like:

• Supporting person-centred plans that identify a customer’s life goals and working to achieve them
• Joining customers in recreational activities such as swimming, dancing, bingo, horseback riding, going to the gym, bowling and more
• Supporting customers in daily living skills such as meal preparation, housekeeping, showering and toileting, medication administration and attending appointments
• Ensuring positive behaviour support plans are followed; and
• Administration duties and mandatory daily reports.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Cert III in Individual Support (CHC33015 or CHC33021) – essential
• Previous experience in supporting customers with mental health concerns, and manual handling
• Live locally in the Bunbury region and be able to work the full roster
• Have willingness to support customers of any gender by assisting with personal care (showering, toileting) and domestic duties (meal preparation, housekeeping)
• Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
• Passion for providing service and assistance and helping others live their best lives.
• Previous experience or willingness to train in manual handling and medication administration.
• Proven administration and computer literacy skills.
• A valid driver’s licence and a willingness to use your private vehicle (with rebates available).
