Takeaway Shop Assistant

Our takeaway shop based in South Dunedin is looking for a shop assistant to assist us in our busy shop.

• Set up the store for opening – cleaning, organising food trays and replenishing stocks.
• Follow instructions on stock control, including stock rotation and ordering.
• Take orders, serve customers at counter.
• Attend to customer’s complaints, escalate to Shop manager if needed
• Cash handling, operate tills and use the telephone.
• Increase sales by up selling and promoting our fine food products
• Food cooking
• Prepare ingredients, which includes washing, cleaning, peeling, cutting, and chopping.
• Clean and sanitise all food preparation areas.
• Wash and store all cooking appliances.
• Dispose waste before closing shop
• Sweep and mop the floors, make sure the store, area in front of the store and cooking area are clean and meet hygiene standard
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and adhere to Health & Safety policies.
• Any other reasonable duties as requested by the Shop manager.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a kitchen environment or similar role is preferred but not mandatory. Training may be provided.
• Must be able to start working in the early morning and weekend, we open 7 days a week.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Good personal hygiene and physical healthy
• Able to work as part of team
• Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
• A positive attitude, reliability, and a passion for food.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.15 – $25.00 per hour
