Odyssey College, operating within the residential rehabilitation setting, is seeking to appoint an Industrial Technology – Woodwork Teacher to deliver the Stage 6 Life Skills curriculum to its students. Located at the Ingleburn campus, the College is a specialist secondary education setting that supports learners of all ages who are engaged in recovery from alcohol and other drug dependence.

The Industrial Technology – Timber Teacher at Odyssey College is responsible for delivering the Stage 6 Life Skills Curriculum in an engaging and practical way to adult learners within a trauma-informed, therapeutic learning environment. The role supports students who may have experienced disrupted education, helping them to build practical skills, confidence, self-belief, and pathways toward further education, training, or employment.

This position requires a strong balance of technical expertise, classroom management, flexibility, and the ability to build positive and respectful relationships.

Skills and Experiences:
Essential Criteria

Approved teaching qualification with Industrial Technology – Timber.
Current NESA accreditation.
Demonstrated experience teaching woodwork or timber technology.
Strong knowledge of workshop safety and WHS requirements.
Ability to engage and motivate students with complex learning, behavioural, or wellbeing needs.
Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills.
Commitment to trauma-informed, inclusive, and student-centred education.
Current Working With Children Check.
Current police check (less than 1 yr old)
Unlimited right to live and work in Australia
COVID 19 Vaccination

Desirable Criteria

Experience working in alternative education, youth services, or therapeutic settings.
Trade qualification or industry experience in carpentry, joinery, or related fields.
Experience integrating vocational pathways, employability skills, or project-based learning.
First Aid certification.
