Team Lead, Ai Applications

YOUR TEAM
You will join the Data & Tech Accelerator, a department of more than 20 data, AI and technology specialists focused on transforming how merchandising decisions are made across BESTSELLER.

As Team Lead, you will be responsible for one of our specialised product teams, bringing together engineers, data scientists and developers who work closely to develop products used across our brands. The solutions your team creates directly support planning, trading and sourcing decisions, helping our business make better decisions at scale.

YOUR ROLE
As Team Lead, you will combine people leadership with technical direction. You will create the conditions for your team to succeed, helping them grow professionally while ensuring the delivery of scalable, high-quality AI applications. Working closely with Product Managers, engineers and business stakeholders, you will help shape priorities, remove obstacles and ensure your team delivers solutions that solve real business challenges.

More specifically, you will:

• Lead, develop and grow a team of engineers and data scientists through coaching, feedback and career development
• Support technical direction together with senior engineers and promote strong engineering practices across the team
• Drive execution and delivery, ensuring alignment between business priorities, team capacity and roadmap commitments
• Foster a collaborative team culture where people are challenged, supported and empowered to perform at their best
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders and translate business needs into clear priorities and actionable plans
• Contribute to the broader leadership and development of the Data & Tech Accelerator as we continue to scale Appretio and our AI capabilities

YOUR PROFILE
You are an experienced leader who is energised by developing strong teams and delivering ambitious products. You strike a balance between technical depth and people leadership. You are comfortable participating in architectural discussions and code reviews, while spending most of your time coaching, supporting and developing the people around you.

We imagine that you:

• Hold a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or a related field, or bring equivalent practical experience
• Have experience leading software, data or AI engineering teams with direct people management responsibility
• Bring a strong technical foundation within software engineering, data or machine learning, with the credibility to engage in technical decisions at both code and architecture level
• Have a track record of delivering complex products in close collaboration with product, design and business stakeholders
• Have experience hiring, coaching and developing engineers at different career stages
• Have hands-on familiarity with modern AI application development, including LLMs, agentic workflows and the tooling surrounding them
• Communicate clearly and confidently across different stakeholder groups, translating between technical and business contexts
