The Opportunity

EirGrid’s Customers & Connections (C&C) team is seeking a dynamic Team Lead to manage the preparation and administration of connection contracts for large-scale generators, energy consumers, and suppliers connecting to or using Ireland’s transmission system.

This senior role involves leading a high-performing team, overseeing contract delivery, developing policy and processes, and engaging with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, industry partners, and senior executives.

The successful candidate will also deputise for the Head of C&C as required.

The Team

The Infrastructure office within EirGrid comprises highly skilled professionals with backgrounds in engineering and business/commerce. The Infrastructure Office is responsible for leading the development and delivery of the power system and interconnection investment programmes, in collaboration with partners, customers & communities.

The Customers & Connections function prepares and manages contracts for connection and use of the transmission system in Ireland and develops related connection policy as the industry evolves. The team also leads the close collaboration with industry customers and related stakeholders who are key for the achievement of renewable targets, the continuation of sustainable economic growth, supporting security of supply and the transition of decarbonise the Irish power system. The team continually seek opportunities to develop collaborative ways of working with industry to drive better outcomes for all.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the C&C team in preparing and managing contracts for grid connections and transmission system usage.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory connection policy and corporate governance requirements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with technical, financial, legal, and regulatory teams to deliver business objectives.
  • Represent EirGrid in stakeholder and customer discussions, negotiations, and regulatory consultations.
  • Develop and implement robust business processes, policies, and methodologies to enhance C&C delivery.
  • Allocate projects and monitor team performance, ensuring delivery against agreed targets.
  • Drive strategic change and process improvement to meet evolving customer, regulatory, and company needs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, regulators, and the Distribution System Operator (DSO).
  • Support the professional development and performance of team members through coaching and mentoring.
  • Provide guidance, act as an escalation point, and represent the C&C function internally and externally.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the C&C team and the wider Infrastructure Directorate.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
  • Degree or equivalent qualification with 8+ years’ experience in a regulated industry, ideally the energy sector.
  • Strong understanding of commercial contracts, including technical, commercial, and legal aspects.
  • Proven experience managing customer and stakeholder relationships in complex environments.
  • Demonstrated success in project management and delivery.
  • Broad knowledge of the power industry and key industry stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly.
  • Strong leadership, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience driving innovation and implementing process improvements.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, motivate staff, and develop high-performance capabilities.
  • Resilient, adaptable, and results-driven, with a proactive and collaborative approach.
