The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.
The Dooralong Transformation Centre is Australia's largest drug, alcohol and gambling rehabilitation centre providing residential support services in an abstinence based, drug-free environment.
About the role
We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Team Lead to lead a high functioning team of multi-disciplinary staff to deliver client centred, residential Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) services.
Reporting to the Manager, this is a permanent, full-time position based in Dooralong. Please note that the current location of this role is in Dooralong NSW, however the service will be relocating to Fountaindale NSW in 2026. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 6.
You will successfully
  • Provide clinical expertise to workers to resolve complex case management issues.
  • Monitor service performance targets and collaboratively identify strategies to address issues with the service manager.
  • Promote service user participation and evaluation.
  • Manage resources as required e.g. vehicles, equipment and property.
  • Monitor relevant aspects of budgets & expenditure, including client brokerage.
  • Deal with referred complaints.
  • Line manage and supervise the Senior Case Worker, Intake & Transitional Housing, Dual Diagnosis staff including nurses.
  • Develop the capability of the team through coaching and training.
  • Build and maintain relationships within the local community.
  • Report to program manager on progress against internal and external service delivery compliance requirements.
You will have
  • A degree qualification in social work, psychology or related field OR demonstrated high level of sector knowledge and skills attained through previous appointments, service and study/development.
  • Completed 4 AOD Skill Set Units (or willing to undertake/complete during employment).
  • Relevant experience in an AOD/mental health service environment.
  • Relevant experience in supervising staff.
