- LLS District Vet Grade 8, salary up to $159,559 per annum (FTE) plus super and leave loading

Are you a passionate veterinary professional ready to lead a high-impact team protecting animal health and biosecurity across NSW? South East Local Land Services (LLS) is seeking a dynamic Team Leader Animal Biosecurity & Welfare to drive critical programs that prevent, detect, and respond to biosecurity threats and animal diseases of state and national significance.
As Team Leader, you’ll lead a team of six District Veterinary Officers, conduct disease investigations, and deliver strategic programs that support the NSW Biosecurity Strategy. You’ll work closely with landholders, travel across stunning regional landscapes, and be supported by a collaborative vet team and experienced leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Animal Biosecurity & Welfare (ABW) team to deliver regional biosecurity strategies
Conduct disease investigations across species and provide expert analysis
Facilitate surveillance and emergency response programs for emerging threats
Promote best-practice animal welfare and biosecurity compliance
Engage with communities and stakeholders to build awareness and trust
Ensure livestock traceability and pest/disease management meet national standards
About You
You’re a confident leader with a veterinary background and a passion for protecting animal health. You thrive in collaborative environments, communicate effectively, and bring initiative to drive outcomes. You’re ready to lead with purpose and make a meaningful impact across NSW.
Essential Requirements
Degree in Veterinary Science (registrable in NSW) + NSW Veterinary Surgeons Board registration
Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in primary industries or emergency management
Current NSW Driver Licence and willingness to travel
Capacity to hold a NSW firearms licence and relevant Statement of Attainment
Ability to be appointed as an Authorised Officer and Stock Inspector
Willingness to undergo police check, health assessment, and other pre-employment checks
