About the team | Ko te rōpū nei

We are part of the Technical Services and Design Unit who are an in-house shared service comprised of technical and design professionals responsible for providing specialist advice and services across the Council. Our team provide internal Architectural, Structural, and Geotechnical advice, design solutions and construction management services to Councils' asset and regulatory units.

About the role | Ko te mahi nei

As the Team Leader TSD - Architectural & Structural you will be responsible for leading a team of professionals as well as providing technical expertise and input to ensure projects meet design requirements and standards. Responsibilities include:

  • Manage, lead, and actively support a team of professional technical staff.
  • Provide direction, empower, motivate and develop others to achieve business unit, group and organisational goals.
  • Ensure the team provides Architectural & Structural design resources to deliver projects on time, on budget, and to agreed quality to enable delivery milestones and targets to be achieved.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with internal clients, consultants and contractors, as well as maintain close liaison with appropriate Project Managers and Contract Managers to ensure that projects are delivered to scope, quality and the expected objectives.

About you | Ko Koe Tēnei

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary level qualification at degree level in Engineering or Architecture.
  • Chartered/Registered status.
  • 12-14 years' experience in a similar environment in a large organisation.
  • Leadership experience of at least 2 years.
  • Excellent knowledge of Local Government legislation and Council systems.
  • Strong professional relationship building skills.

Hours of work - 37.5 - 40 hours per week
Position - Permanent
Location - This position is primarily based at Te Hononga, Christchurch City Council Civic Offices - 53 Hereford Street
