Technical Lead - Digital Platform
About Us:
LIC has been pioneering innovative solutions in the agri-tech space for over a century, making us New Zealand's leading agri-tech cooperative. Recently ranked #8 on the TIN200 list of top NZ tech companies, we're on an exciting journey to enhance our digital platform and deliver real, measurable value to our internal customers. Join us in redefining the digital landscape and shaping the future of our platform.
About the role:
You are part of the Technology Group and report to a Principal Technologist within our Platform Engineering Team. The Technology Group is responsible for technology development and delivery for our external and internal value streams.
As part of the digital platform engineering value stream your mission is to reduce the cognitive load on the product teams and empower them by providing reusable, secure and self-serviced building blocks. You'll lead a team of Software Engineers, Test Engineers, DevOps Engineers and/or Data Engineers that will work with other cross functional roles to form an agile delivery team. You'll work closely with a Product Owner and your team to design the right solutions for the problems and challenges they bring to the team.
The role is accountable for the design quality, software delivery and ongoing sustainability of all products & systems your team supports. This includes adhering to LIC's architecture, development, and testing standards along with sustainability, security, and non-functional requirements including adherence to LIC's Technology Principles and adoption of LIC's Digital and Data Platform wherever possible.
Additionally, you are accountable for the operational stability and maturity of each product and system owned by your team. As a Technical Lead, you'll also participate in one or more communities of practice to ensure enterprise-wide standards are set and maintained and to ensure continuous improvement of our core practices.
Ultimately you are responsible for the delivery cadence of your team, and for ensuring that they are adhering to LIC's quality, sustainability, security, and other key non-functional requirements, so that we can build sustainable software products and systems.
About You
In this role you will be part of a supportive team who enjoy the work they do. You'll confidently demonstrate
- Strong working knowledge of how scalable Cloud software systems are designed, built, tested, and deployed into the hands of customers.
- Strong working knowledge and experience with microservice design patterns, automation techniques including CI/CD, IaC, and test automation.
- Knowledge of current and emerging Cloud platforms and tools along with a solid awareness of technology trends.
- Proven experience in coaching, mentoring, and people management.
- Proven business engagement skills in combination with technical and pragmatic solution design capabilities.
- The ability to strategize, conceptualise, define, and design solutions and/or options and articulate trade-offs and risks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills that enable you to communicate technical ideas to technical and non-technical staff.
- 2+ years of experience as a technical or team leader in an agile software development environment.
- 5+ years of experience with software development and/or architecture.
- A degree in a relevant discipline and / or equivalent experience in software engineering or software architecture working in complex heterogeneous environments.
In Return
- Competitive Salary: We value your skills and expertise. Enjoy a competitive salary that recognises your contributions.
- Flexible working: Split your time working remotely and from our office.
- Great Work Environment: At our Hamilton office you'll have free carparking, free EV charging stations, tennis court, pool, and onsite café.
- Benefits that Matter: You'll receive some great benefits, including extra leave days, and discounted health insurance.
- Make a Difference: Working in a dynamic technology environment you will play a key role in building the next generation digital platform to help the next generation of New Zealand dairy farmers sustainably feed the world.
If you're ready to drive impactful change in a culture of innovation, we'd love to hear from you.
