With 15 branches covering the broad-acre, viticulture, horticulture and grounds care farming sectors of Victoria and South Australia we are highly regarded in the farming community and believe the key to our success is the people who work for us!

Our team has a genuine passion for developing integrated farming solutions that help the Australian farming industry be the best it can be. Join us in our purpose to keep farmers, farming!

Description:
Are you an engineering graduate or technically minded professional with a passion for problem-solving and diagnostics?

Are you ready to apply your skills to support technicians across multiple locations and learn from industry-leading experts?

Emmetts is seeking a Technical Communicator to join our centralised technical support team — a key role providing advanced, remote diagnostic support across our entire dealership network.

Acting as the link between our service teams, management, and John Deere’s Dealer Technical Assistance Center (DTAC) — helping ensure fast, accurate diagnosis and resolution of machinery issues to minimise customer downtime.

This centralised support role would ideally be located at our Horsham Head Office, though candidates based near our other branch locations across Western Victoria and South Australia will be considered.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide remote technical support to technicians and customers
  • Liaise with John Deere’s Dealer Technical Assistance Center (DTAC) to resolve diagnostic cases and escalate issues where required.
  • Learn to use John Deere Connected Support™, a fleet of industry-leading tools, along with Remote Display Access and Expert Connect for remote diagnostics and proactive problem detection.
  • Monitor, distribute, and track Expert Alerts and JDLink™ Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), and liaise with customers regarding required service actions to support quick resolution of equipment issues.
  • Analyse machine data and help coordinate service interventions.
  • Share insights and contribute to team knowledge, best practices, and process improvements.
  • Develop Spanner Smarts, Emmetts’ internal knowledge board, to support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in ongoing training to build technical expertise and diagnostic capability.
What You’ll Bring

  • Recent Engineering or technical qualification (mechanical, mechatronics, automotive, or agricultural machinery focus).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen interest in diagnostics.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Willingness to learn John Deere diagnostic tools and machinery systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort using software tools for analysis and reporting.
Note: Previous diesel mechanics experience is not required — we provide training for the right candidate with a technical and diagnostic capability with motivation to learn.

Why Join Emmetts

  • Work with world-leading John Deere machinery and connected diagnostic tools.
  • Fully remote role with exposure to cutting-edge agricultural technology.
  • Be part of a supportive, innovative technical network.
  • Access structured training, career development, and mentoring from industry experts.
  • Make a real difference in improving uptime for Australian farmers.
Kickstart your career in agricultural machinery diagnostics.
