Technical Due Diligence & Permitting Project Manager
At ERM, sustainability is our business.
As the world’s largest advisory firm focused solely on sustainability, we offer unparalleled expertise across business and finance.
ERM partners with clients to operationalize sustainability at pace and scale, leveraging our unique combination of strategic transformation and technical delivery capabilities.
Our diverse global team of experts collaborates with the world’s leading organizations to set clear sustainability targets, measure progress, and implement strategies through deep operationalization and business transformation.
With more than 50 years of experience, our ability to integrate sustainability solutions and our extensive technical knowledge are why organizations choose us as their trusted advisor.
The Role:
We are looking for a Managing Consultant to lead and develop the technical due diligence (DD) for the renewables stream in Italy. This individual will also provide support, as needed, for EHS/ESG DD related to energy and renewables, as well as for the permitting/CPD streams across Italy and Europe.
The ideal candidate should be capable of training and supporting junior team members, while also collaborating with the renewable energy technical DD team in the UK. We anticipate numerous opportunities for combined technical DDs and ESG DDs, both in Italy and internationally, particularly as we strengthen our relationships with infrastructure funds investing in renewables (e.g., GAIF, EGIF, SLAM, Ardian, DIF, EIP, Nuveen, etc.), as well as potentially supporting ENI with all Plenitude technical and EHS DD requests.
Key Skills/Experience:
  • 7+ years of experience leading Technical Due Diligence (DD) for Renewable Energy projects, including Solar PV, Wind, BESS, Hydro, and Biogas.
  • Experience with other energy technologies such as thermal plants, hydrogen, and alternative fuels.
  • A strong technical background (e.g., engineering), including conducting feasibility studies and designing renewable energy projects in Italy and Europe.
  • Experience with non-European projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of Italian legislation, laws, and incentives related to environmental and permitting requirements for energy projects.
  • Strong understanding of EU energy policy and EU taxonomy, particularly regarding energy and renewable energy projects.
  • Experience with infrastructure funds or infrastructure companies, familiarity with CSRD or SFDR regulations, experience in technical advisory roles for infrastructure funds, and expertise in ESG/EHS DDs and audits.
  • Experience in environmental constraints analysis and permitting and authorization processes for energy projects is a plus.
  • Fluency in both Italian and English.
To Apply:
At ERM, we are committed to building an inclusive culture by identifying, acquiring, developing, and retaining a highly skilled, high-performing workforce that reflects the diverse global marketplace in which we operate. We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religious preference, sexual orientation, physical attributes, or educational background.
If you share our values and are interested in this role, please send your CV and cover letter (in English) along with your salary expectations.
