Technical Product Owner, Customer Engagement

We are looking for a Technical Product Owner to join our growing development team based in Helsinki. Your home team will be the Martech (IT) team, but you’ll work closely with our marketing, loyalty, e-commerce, and other web/application teams to help our businesses thrive.

Our exceptional Martech team, about ten internal members plus a few external partners, works closely together, sharing goals and solving challenges with minimal hierarchy. We value high standards and a positive team spirit. Our projects cover a broad range of marketing, measurement, customer communication, and retail media solutions, including ad servers, targeting and measurement, digital analytics and consent management, online-to-offline measurement, multichannel personalized marketing automation, and customer data platforms and activation. We collaborate horizontally across all S-group business units – you will not be bored.

About the job

Our marketing automation today includes both scheduled campaigns and a range of triggered programs across multiple brands. But our vision goes beyond that. We aim to create a more holistic customer engagement platform by adding real-time interactions and omnichannel capabilities. With this clear vision in mind, we’ve updated the job title from Marketing Automation to Customer Engagement. Now we were hoping you could lead us forward to reaching this vision.

In this role, you will be in a very central role leading the technical development of our customer engagement capabilities and realizing our vision.

You’ll collaborate closely with colleagues from different areas of the company. Together with marketeers, business developers, technical product owners, designers, developers, and engineers, you’ll create modern customer engagement solutions using the latest technologies and best practices.

Key responsibilities:

• Technical ownership (develop and maintain) of our customer engagement platform.
• Ownership of technical development roadmap.
• Ownership of development execution.
• Bridge business cases to technical development and working solutions
• Leading cross-functional development team and projects (no direct HR responsibilities).
• Plan, implement, and maintain a scalable customer engagement solution.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on system architecture, data models, and technical design decisions.
• Stay up to date with emerging martech landscapes.

Our workplace is our Helsinki office, Ässäkeskus, where we meet with our colleagues several times a week. When your duties allow, you can also work remotely for part of the week with flexible arrangements.

What we are hoping from you

You are an experienced professional with proven skills in marketing automation, customer engagement, and martech solutions. You stay updated on industry trends and can create long-term visions and roadmaps for customer engagement. Curious and proactive, you tackle challenges with a “let me find out” mindset.

You balance business needs with technical solutions, contribute to business cases, and collaborate effectively with developers. You lead cross-functional teams with open communication and build trust to achieve shared goals.

In addition, we hope from you:

• Experience in leadership.
• Understanding databases & SQL.
• Prior experience with marketing technology platforms.
• Interest in the wide Martech landscape.
• The capability to describe things in detail.
• Agile development practices.

Nice-to-have:

• Prior experience working in a technical product owner role.
• Experience with data solutions (DWs, modelling, pipelines, CDPs) is considered a strong advantage.
• Hands-on experience building technical solutions.
