About the role
Orica is a leading provider of innovative mining solutions, committed to safety, efficiency, and sustainability. We are seeking a skilled Blasting Technician with expertise in the i-kon™ Electronic Blasting System to join our dynamic team. The i-kon™ system is the most advanced Electronic Blasting System on the market, designed for use in high value and complex blasts at large surface operations.
As a Blasting Technician, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient execution of blasting operations using the i-kon™ system. Your role will involve planning, preparing, and conducting blasts in surface mining environments. This is for a full-time permanent role working on a 7 on 7 off roster.
What you will be doing
- Engage with customers and the local market to build strong relationships and understand their needs;
- Introduce and implement new products at individual sites, ensuring smooth integration and operation;
- Manage and deliver minor projects efficiently and effectively;
- Provide expert product stewardship, including the use of EBS, wireless systems, bulk delivery systems, and digital technologies;
- Collaborate with mining engineers and other team members to optimize blasting performance.
What you will bring
- Highly experienced Shotfirer / Senior Shotfirer;
- Exposure to electronic blasting systems. Orica products will be advantageous;
- Extensive experience with the i-kon™ system;
- Proficient MMU (Mobile Manufacturing Unit) operator;
- Strong understanding of blasting principles and safety protocols;
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blast designs;
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail;
- Ideally, possess trainer assessor qualifications;
- Shotfirer license in relevant state of application.
